Trekking in the Zafimaniry country and Andringitra Massif
Reception on your arrival at the airport. Settling at the hotel. Overnight in BB
Breakfast at the hotel. Then you will leave the capital and head for the South. You will travel along the RN7 Road. You will have a stop at Ambatolampy to visit a workshop of pots and other kitchen utensils made with salvaged aluminium. You will journey through mountain chains, ricefields and typical villages of the high plateaux.
Then you will continue the journey onto Antsirabe which you reach at the end of the morning. Antsirabe is a town called “The City of water” because of its thermal springs with therapeutic properties.
Discovery of Antsirabe in the afternoon. Overnight in BB
After breakfast, you will continue the trip towards Ambositra, situated at 90 kilometres southward from Antsirabe.
Ambositra is the capital of Malagasy craft industry. Here you will have the opportunity to discover the works of the Zafimaniry, an ethnic group living in that area and whose members are skillful woodcarvers.
You will continue the journey to Antoetra, the starting point for the discovery of the Zafimaniry area. Overnight in BB
After breakfast, you will go for a trekking to the village of Ifasina. During this day, you will have the opportunity to discover beautiful landscapes and wooden houses built with carved wood. It will also be an opportunity to meet this people endowed with incredible skill who will be pleased to share it with you.
Picnic lunch on the way. Return to your lodge in the afternoon. Overnight in BB
In the morning, you will head for the village of Morarano, the staring point for the discovery of the National Park of Andringitra.
A stop at Ambalavao to visit a workshop of hand-crafted Antemoro paper. Made with the bark of a tree named Avoha, once dried, the paper is decorated with natural flowers to make envelopes, albums, greetings cards, etc. Overnight in HB.
First day in the National Park of Andringitra. You will leave Tsara Camp very early in the morning by crossing the Valley of Sahanambo. After the formalities at the gate of the Park at Morarano, you will continue your walk to see the impressive cliffs in the National Park of Andringitra you will go through the circuit of Diavolana located at 1950 metres where you will see lizards, birds and chameleons.Night in bivouac
You will get up very early this morning because you will go climbing up the Pic Boby (2,650m) through a staircase of 3,000 stairs. After a 3 hours’ walk, you will reach the peak with a view of the whole region from any cardinal point. The crest on which the peak is situated is very exposed to the climatic influences of the east with an intense humidity.
The weather may suddenly change. You are to bring warm clothes and a k-way.
After enjoying this view, you will now continue the trekking down towards the “extraterrestrial” circuit with its surreal lunar landscapes. The lunch will be served by a stream. The camping will be set at Iantaranaomby (1,650m) by the riverside. Night in bivouac
This is the last day of the trek, it is easier and shorter. You will walking down to the valley of Sahanambo where you will see the mounts of Tsaranoro and Caméléons, and then you will walking across the Villages of Barabory (Manamisoa and Morarano) to arrive at the Camp after a 4 hours’ walk. Overnight in HB
You will continue the journey again on the RN7 road to the South. You will go across the plateau of Ihorombe before arriving at Ranohira in the afternoon. Overnight in BB
Ranohira is the staring point for the discovery of National Park of Isalo. Overnight in BB
A day devoted to the discovery of the National Park of Isalo. This walk will make you discover the beautiful landscape of this park composed of massif and canyons.
After going through some kilometers, your effort will be rewarded by the view of lemurs, such as the lemur catta, as well as a natural pool surrounded by pandanus. A genuine oasis. An invitation to a swim. Overnight in BB
You will have breakfast at the hotel and then continue the trip towards Tuléar through a desert landscape.
All along the way, you will see the Mahafaly tombs and their decorations. You will get to Tuléar at the end of the morning.
Tuléar is a quiet town, crossed by the tropic of Capricorn. It’s also the starting point for all the excursions onto the other surrounding villages.
You will leave Tuléar and continue the journey to Ifaty, a fishermen’s village by the sea. Overnight in BB
Free time at Ifaty and overnight in BB
Transfer to the airport and flight to Antananarivo. Overnight in BB
Flight back home.
